Delivery

Always Fresh, Never Frozen®. Delivered in the morning.

Fresh meat deserves a better journey. That’s why Swaledale orders are delivered in the morning with DPD’s timed delivery service, helping your order arrive earlier in the day.

All Swaledale orders now benefit from morning delivery with DPD for a £3 delivery charge.

We work hard to make home delivery as straightforward and reliable as possible. Before your order arrives, please take a moment to check the following:

When placing your order, please double-check that your delivery address is correct and that your device has not auto-filled an alternative address. You can confirm the details submitted in your order confirmation email.

We strongly recommend using the DPD app, which is the easiest way to manage your delivery, receive updates and set a preferred neighbour or safe place if you won’t be home.

Please make sure you are available to receive your order, or have suitable delivery instructions in place through DPD. Once a parcel has been delivered to the address, neighbour or safe place selected and DPD has provided proof of delivery, we cannot accept responsibility for it subsequently going missing.

Please read our FAQs below for further delivery information.

  • Why have you introduced a delivery charge?

We’ve listened to customer feedback and have invested in improving our delivery service.

Because our meat is Always Fresh, Never Frozen®, the delivery journey matters. Moving to Morning Delivery with DPD is the highest level of delivery service we can offer, helping your order arrive earlier in the day with a more consistent delivery experience. It also reduces the amount of time fresh orders spend travelling through the carrier network during warmer daytime conditions.

A typical Swaledale order costs us around £10 in packaging and timed delivery alone, before the cost of packing the order itself. This includes our recyclable box, insulated wool liners, cooling packs and DPD morning delivery.

We continue to subsidise the majority of this cost. The £3 delivery charge is a contribution towards the improved service whilst keeping delivery simple and consistent for all customers.

Our £80 minimum order value remains unchanged.

  • Do you offer morning delivery with DPD?

Yes. Swaledale orders are delivered using Morning Delivery with DPD, helping your Always Fresh, Never Frozen® meat arrive earlier in the day with a more consistent delivery experience.

For most mainland UK postcodes, this is a morning delivery service. Some Scottish postcodes receive delivery by 1pm due to DPD network coverage.

Delivering earlier in the day also helps reduce the time your fresh order spends travelling through the carrier network during warmer daytime conditions.

  • How much is morning delivery with DPD?

A £3 Morning Delivery with DPD charge applies to all orders.

Our £80 minimum order value remains unchanged.

  • Do I need to pay for delivery after applying a rewards coupon or discount code?

Our minimum order value is £80. A £3 delivery charge applies to all orders, including orders where a rewards coupon or discount code has been used.

Orders cannot be placed below the minimum order value after discounts have been applied.

  • Is there a minimum order value?

Yes, our minimum order value is £80. A £3 Morning Delivery with DPD charge applies to all orders.

  • Is delivery free?

No. A £3 Morning Delivery with DPD charge applies to all orders.

Our £80 minimum order value remains unchanged.

  • Can I choose my delivery date?

Yes, you'll be prompted to select your delivery date when you check out. Typically this can be up to 60-days from today, excluding Sundays, Mondays and public holidays etc.

  • How much is delivery?

A £3 Morning Delivery with DPD charge applies to all orders.

Our timed morning delivery service helps your Always Fresh, Never Frozen® meat arrive earlier in the day.

  • What is the cut-off time for next day morning delivery?

Our cut-off time for next day morning delivery is 9am. Orders placed by 9am on an available dispatch day can be prepared and dispatched for next day delivery with DPD’s timed morning service, subject to delivery availability.

Orders placed after 9am on Saturday will be dispatched on Monday for Tuesday delivery, as we do not dispatch orders on Sundays.

Please note that delivery availability can be limited during peak periods, particularly around Thursday, Friday and Saturday deliveries, bank holidays, Easter and Christmas, so we recommend ordering as early as possible.

  • Where do you offer morning delivery with DPD?

We offer Morning Delivery with DPD across mainland UK postcodes where the service is available. Orders placed before 9am are prepared and dispatched for next day delivery. Some remote areas and extended transit postcodes are excluded.

  • Which days of the week do you deliver?

We deliver Tuesday to Saturday using our Morning Delivery with DPD service.

Please note that deliveries are not available on Sundays or Mondays.

  • Which courier do you use?

Our trusted delivery partner is DPD.

When sending fresh meat, the delivery journey matters. DPD’s experience with time-sensitive deliveries allows us to offer Morning Delivery with DPD, helping your Always Fresh, Never Frozen® order arrive earlier in the day, safely packed and ready to enjoy.

  • Is there a DPD app?

Yes, we recommend using the DPD app to track and receive real-time updates on your delivery. The app is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, or you can download it from the Google Play Store for Android devices.

  • The DPD app says I can change the delivery date. Is this possible for my order?

No. Although the DPD app may display delivery change options, these are not available for our orders once dispatched. As we send chilled perishable goods, delivery dates cannot be changed in transit.

We appreciate this is frustrating. The app is designed around DPD’s wider parcel network and does not clearly separate standard parcels from perishable consignments. To ensure your order arrives within the intended delivery window and in the condition it should, delivery date changes are not possible once the parcel has entered the network.

  • Can I change my delivery date once my order has been shipped?

Unfortunately not. Because we send chilled perishable goods, delivery dates cannot be changed once an order has been dispatched.

  • What happens if I change my delivery date anyway?

If you choose to change the delivery date via the DPD app, we cannot be held responsible for the condition of the goods upon arrival. As our products are perishable, altering the delivery schedule may affect their freshness and quality, and could also impact our ability to deliver them within a safe timescale. Once the delivery date is changed, we are no longer liable for the condition of the items.

  • Will my delivery driver knock at the door?

Please note that the way deliveries are made has changed, and DPD drivers no longer have to knock or hand the parcel to you in person. If they don't, you should receive an electronic notification (text or email) once the delivery has been made, so please look out for this and be on hand to take custody of your delivery.

  • What if I live in a building with a communal foyer or entrance hall?

If you live somewhere with a communal entrance, please be aware that your parcel may be left in a foyer or post room where other residents have access to it, so it is important to be on hand to collect your delivery promptly.

  • What happens if my delivery is delayed?

In the rare event that your delivery is delayed, please be reassured that our insulated packaging is designed to keep produce in good condition throughout day two after it leaves Swaledale HQ.

If, once your order arrives, you have any concerns about the condition of the meat, please contact us straight away. We value long-term relationships with our customers and will always review the matter carefully, but we are only able to offer a refund or replacement where the quality of the meat has genuinely been compromised by the delay.

Please email hello@swaledale.co.uk, quoting your order number and outlining the issue as soon as possible.

  • What happens if my items are damaged or compromised in transit?

If any items are damaged or compromised during transit, we will replace the affected item(s) free of charge or offer a refund where appropriate.

Please email us at hello@swaledale.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number, details of the issue, and clear photographs showing:

    • the outer box
    • the internal packaging
    • the affected product(s)
    • the product labels attached to the affected product(s), with the use-by dates and batch details clearly visible

Please keep the affected items and packaging until we have reviewed the issue, as we may need them for investigation with our team or courier, and collection may be required.

  • What should I do if the packaging is damaged or the vacuum seal has loosened?

Very occasionally, a vacuum seal may loosen in transit. If the product arrives properly chilled and is otherwise in good condition, remove it from the packaging, cover it securely, refrigerate it at 5°C or below, and use within 48 hours or freeze. Do not rely on the original use-by date once the vacuum seal has been compromised.

If the parcel is damaged, the product is not properly chilled, or you have any other concerns about its condition, please contact us immediately.

  • What happens if incorrect items are delivered?

If you receive an incorrect item, please email us at hello@swaledale.co.uk with your order number. We will send you the correct item free of charge as soon as possible, or alternatively, we can offer a refund. You will not be charged for the incorrect item.

  • Where do you not deliver?

We do not deliver to the following locations:

Channel Islands, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland or outside of the UK.

We also do not deliver to Scottish Highlands, Islands and remote postcode areas:

    AB31–AB56, FK17–FK21, HS1–HS9, IV1–IV63, KA27–KA28, KW1–KW17, PA20–PA78, PH19–PH50 and ZE1–ZE3.

  • Which Scottish postcodes do you deliver to using DPD's next day service?

We deliver to the following Scottish postcode areas on an overnight basis:

    AB10–AB30, DD1–DD11, DG1–DG9, EH1–EH55, FK1–FK16, G1–G90, KA1–KA26, KA29–KA30, KY1–KY16, KY99, ML1–ML12, PA1–PA19, PH1–PH18 and TD1–TD16.

  • Why have you stopped shipping to Scottish Highlands, Islands and remote postcodes?

To protect quality and reliability. These areas are not consistently served on an overnight service, and deliveries can sometimes be handled by partner networks outside of our direct control, which increases the risk of delays.

As all Swaledale meat is Always Fresh, Never Frozen®, we only deliver to postcodes where we can confidently offer an overnight service so your order arrives on time and in perfect condition. Rising courier costs for remote areas have also made it increasingly difficult to deliver to these locations in a way that is both reliable and sustainable.

This change was introduced in mid-February 2026. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused, and we really appreciate your understanding.

  • Why can offal smell stronger than other meat?

Offal, particularly liver and heart, naturally has a stronger aroma and darker appearance than standard muscle cuts, especially when freshly vacuum packed. This alone is not an indication of a fault.

  • Why does vacuum-packed chicken sometimes smell when opened?

A noticeable aroma on first opening is normal with vacuum-packed chicken and should dissipate within a few minutes once exposed to air. This is caused by the absence of oxygen in the pack and is not, in itself, a sign of a problem.
