Delivery

We pride ourselves on working hard to make the home delivery process as convenient and hassle free as possible, for you at home. To ensure a smooth home delivery experience, please read these important notes in advance of receiving your Swaledale items:

When placing your Swaledale order please double check that you've filled out your address details correctly, and your device has not auto-populated the fields with an alternative address. If in doubt after you've placed your order, you can double check the delivery details you've submitted by looking at your confirmation email.

Please ensure you are available to receive your order, or if you won't be, have advised DPD through the app to leave your parcel with a neighbour or in a safe place. We are not liable for parcels that go astray once your parcel has been delivered by DPD and a proof of delivery photo has been taken.

Please read our FAQs below:

  • Can I choose my delivery date?

Yes, you'll be prompted to select your delivery date when you check out. Typically this can be up to 60-days from today, excluding Sundays, Mondays and public holidays etc.

  • Can I change my delivery date once my order has been shipped?

Unfortunately not. Because we send chilled perishable goods, delivery dates cannot be changed once an order has been dispatched.

  • Do I need to pay for delivery after applying a rewards coupon or discount code?

If you applied a rewards coupon or discount code at checkout, it will reduce the price of the products in your cart. However, if the total after applying the code is below the free delivery threshold (e.g. £80), you will still need to pay for delivery.

  • Do you offer free delivery?

Yes, free standard delivery is available on orders of £80 or more.

  • Do you offer Pre-12 (1pm in Scotland) delivery?

Yes, please select at the checkout. Pre-12 (1pm in Scotland) is for mainland UK postcodes only.

  • How much is Pre-12 (1pm in Scotland)?

    £10

  • How much is standard delivery?

Standard delivery is £5 on orders between £70 and £79.99.

  • Is standard delivery free?

Yes, standard delivery is free on orders of £80 or more.

  • Is there a DPD app?

Yes, we recommend using the DPD app to track and receive real-time updates on your delivery. The app is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, or you can download it from the Google Play Store for Android devices.

  • The DPD app says I can change the delivery date. Is this possible for my order?

No. Although the DPD app may display delivery change options, these are not available for our orders once dispatched. As we send chilled perishable goods, delivery dates cannot be changed in transit.

We appreciate this is frustrating. The app is designed around DPD’s wider parcel network and does not clearly separate standard parcels from perishable consignments. To ensure your order arrives within the intended delivery window and in the condition it should, delivery date changes are not possible once the parcel has entered the network.

  • What happens if I change my delivery date anyway?

If you choose to change the delivery date via the DPD app, we cannot be held responsible for the condition of the goods upon arrival. As our products are perishable, altering the delivery schedule may affect their freshness and quality, and could also impact our ability to deliver them within a safe timescale. Once the delivery date is changed, we are no longer liable for the condition of the items.

  • Where do you not deliver?

We do not deliver to the following locations:

Channel Islands, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland or outside of the UK.

We also do not deliver to Scottish Highlands, Islands and remote postcode areas:

    AB31–AB56, FK17–FK21, HS1–HS9, IV1–IV63, KA27–KA28, KW1–KW17, PA20–PA78, PH19–PH50 and ZE1–ZE3.

  • What happens if incorrect items are delivered?

If you receive an incorrect item, please email us at hello@swaledale.co.uk with your order number. We will send you the correct item free of charge as soon as possible, or alternatively, we can offer a refund. You will not be charged for the incorrect item.

  • What happens if my delivery is delayed?

In the rare event that your delivery is delayed, please be reassured that our insulated packaging is designed to keep produce in optimal condition throughout the duration of day two after it leaves Swaledale HQ.

If there are any issues with the condition of the meat once it arrives, we’ll do everything we can to make it right. We value long-term relationships with our customers. However, we’re only able to offer a refund or replacement if the quality of the meat has been compromised due to the delay.
If you have any concerns after receiving your delivery, please email hello@swaledale.co.uk, referencing your order number and the nature of the issue as soon as possible.

  • What happens if my items are damaged in transit?

If any items are damaged during transit, we will replace the damaged item(s) free of charge or offer a refund. Please email us at hello@swaledale.co.uk with your order number and details of the issue as soon as possible.

  • What if I live in a building with a communal foyer or entrance hall?

If you live somewhere with a communal entrance, please be aware that your parcel may be left in a foyer or post room where other residents have access to it, so it is important to be on hand to collect your delivery promptly.

  • Which days of the week do you deliver?

We deliver from Tuesday to Saturday. Please note that there are no deliveries on Sundays or Mondays.

  • Which courier do you use?

Our trusted delivery partner is DPD, who are the gold standard of couriers in the UK.

  • What is the cut-off time for next day delivery?

Our cut-off time for next day delivery is 9am. Orders placed by 9am on an available dispatch day can be booked for delivery the following day, subject to delivery slot availability. Orders placed after 9am on Saturday can be booked from Tuesday onwards, as we do not dispatch orders on Sundays or Mondays.

Please note that delivery slots can fill up, particularly for peak delivery days such as Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and around bank holiday weekends, Easter and Christmas, so we recommend ordering sooner rather than later.

  • Where do you offer next day delivery?

We deliver to mainland UK addresses where DPD provides an overnight next day service.

  • Why have you stopped shipping to Scottish Highlands, Islands and remote postcodes?

To protect quality and reliability. These areas are not consistently served on an overnight service, and deliveries can sometimes be handled by partner networks outside of our direct control, which increases the risk of delays.

As all Swaledale meat is Always Fresh, Never Frozen®, we only deliver to postcodes where we can confidently offer an overnight service so your order arrives on time and in perfect condition. Rising courier costs for remote areas have also made it increasingly difficult to deliver to these locations in a way that is both reliable and sustainable.

This change was introduced in mid-February 2026. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused, and we really appreciate your understanding.

  • Will my delivery driver knock at the door?

Please note that the way deliveries are made has changed, and DPD drivers no longer have to knock or hand the parcel to you in person. If they don't, you should receive an electronic notification (text or email) once the delivery has been made, so please look out for this and be on hand to take custody of your delivery.

  • Which Scottish postcodes do you deliver to using DPD's next day service?

We deliver to the following Scottish postcode areas on an overnight basis:

    AB10–AB30, DD1–DD11, DG1–DG9, EH1–EH55, FK1–FK16, G1–G90, KA1–KA26, KA29–KA30, KY1–KY16, KY99, ML1–ML12, PA1–PA19, PH1–PH18 and TD1–TD16.

  • Why does vacuum-packed chicken sometimes smell when opened?

A noticeable aroma on first opening is normal with vacuum-packed chicken and should dissipate within a few minutes once exposed to air. This is caused by the absence of oxygen in the pack and is not, in itself, a sign of a problem.

  • Why can offal smell stronger than other meat?

Offal, particularly liver and heart, naturally has a stronger aroma and darker appearance than standard muscle cuts, especially when freshly vacuum packed. This alone is not an indication of a fault.

  • What should I do if the packaging is damaged or the vacuum seal has loosened?

Very occasionally, a vacuum seal may loosen slightly in transit. If that happens, remove the product from the packaging on arrival, store it covered in the fridge, and use within 48 hours or freeze. If the parcel arrives damaged or the contents are not properly chilled, please contact us straight away.
